Odysseus and the Really Freaky Monsters
Roll over Brad Pitt, Tidemark Theatre are in town to teach you how to do Greek mythology. A band of cowardly custard warriors led by upper class twit Odysseus do battle with an array of Really Freaky Monsters (the 7-headed Cilla Black was walking a fine line between hilarious and horrific) while the gods fight about their fate. There are some tremendeous gags, some good lighting effects and strong performances.
Poseidon himself deserves to be singled out for praise; not only a dead ringer for Michael Palin, he also turns in a wonderfully pythonesque performance. Good fun and far, far superior to that infernal nonsense Troy. |
