Bob's gran is in a coma... and so is his marriage.
In this comedy two-hander (save for an imaginary body in the hospital bed), husband and wife Bob and Louise are forced to do some hard thinking about the state of their marriage.
Summoned to the bedside of Bob's Gran in the early hours of the morning, the couple seem to find it much easier to talk to the elderly (comatose) patient than to each other and are soon forced to face some hard truths about the state of their marriage.
In a twist of fate, it is Louise who finally realises how much she loves Bob and that she wants to save her marriage. But is it too late?
Golden Slumbers was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1999. Jon Russell played Bob and Rebecca Russell played Louise. The production was directed by Charonne Boulton. |
