"Divorce, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived." Thus runs the pneumonic rhyme school kids use to remember the fates of the six wives of Henry VIII. Luckless Catherine de Aragon et al are here reinvented for our age in this inspired play that's deftly directed and faultlessly performed. The largely tragic stories of the six modern women who are humped and dumped by a wealthy scoundrel we never see are skillfully woven together with a clever conceit that has the cast acting independently of one another in a shared boudoir where they alternately relate their compelling tales. It's an enormously enjoyable show that's full of pathos and bittersweet humour.
